What you need to know about the role
We are looking for a Structural inspector working within the Asset Integrity, Reliability and Engineering Department (AIRED).
As a Structural Inspector in the AIRED department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the structural integrity of assets within the British Steel. You will be responsible for conducting visual inspections / assessments, and non-destructive testing on various structural components to identify defects, anomalies, and areas in need of repair or maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough structural inspections using various NDT methods such as visual, magnetic particle testing, and dye penetrant testing as and when required.
* Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and repair plans.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement inspection and maintenance strategies to ensure asset reliability.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and equipment calibration.
* Stay updated on emerging inspection technologies and best practices in structural integrity.
What we need to know about you
You will need to possess a NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant structural trade is desirable but not essential as on the job training will be given.
Effective communication and IT skills are essential with the ability to communicate verbally and written.
Ideally, you will have experience in structural inspection/maintenance within a commercial or heavy engineering environment, essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop.
Good underpinning knowledge of the current NDT techniques would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.
