Senior Civil & Structural Engineer (Water Sector)
Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working)
Rate: £50–£55 per hour Ltd (subject to IR35 assessment)
Duration: 12 months +
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary design team delivering major projects within the water sector. The role involves leading and producing civil and structural design deliverables, ensuring technical excellence, and providing guidance to junior engineers.
The successful candidate will be confident liaising directly with clients, contributing to design reviews, and coordinating effectively with BIM and wider engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering Delivery
Produce and verify civil and structural analysis, calculations, reports, and specifications for water-sector infrastructure.
Develop effective design solutions and communicate these clearly to BIM/Revit teams for accurate model development.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, legislation, and client requirements.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, process, and BIM disciplines to deliver fully integrated designs.
Attend design reviews, client meetings, and site visits as required.
Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to junior engineers.
Client Interaction
Present design solutions confidently and professionally to clients and stakeholders.
Support project managers and discipline leads with technical input, programme updates, and risk identification.
Required Qualifications & Experience
5–10 years minimum experience in civil and structural engineering.
Experience in water, oil & gas, or process industries is essential.
Minimum BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Chartered (ICE or IStructE) preferred.
Strong understanding of UK design standards, codes, and construction practices.
Ability to prepare, check, and sign off civil and structural calculations and design deliverables.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and represent the discipline confidently.
CSCS card preferred or ability to obtain one if required.
