Job Description:

* About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Delivery of ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, covering road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
* Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed.
* Implement Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs in conjunction with the Head of Safety & Risk to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as the HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
* Ensure all incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation based on severity, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media as needed.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental Risk qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
