Overview
Our client, a leading further education college in Surrey, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Multi-Skilled Construction Lecturer to join their Construction and Built Environment team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong industry experience in one or more construction trades to inspire and develop the next generation of professionals. The role combines practical teaching, learner support, and curriculum development within a modern, well-equipped learning environment.
The college has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted, with inspectors praising its supportive culture, effective safeguarding, and high standards of teaching and learning.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and practical teaching sessions aligned with the City & Guilds 6219 curriculum.
* Teach and assess across a range of trades including bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, wall and floor tiling, plumbing, and construction operations.
* Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment materials in line with awarding body requirements.
* Carry out practical assessments and maintain accurate learner portfolios.
* Support students in developing employability, teamwork, and communication skills.
* Promote progression routes into Level 1 and Level 2 trade-specific qualifications or apprenticeships.
* Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies.
Requirements
* Industry-recognised Level 2 qualification (or higher) in a construction-related trade.
* Significant industry experience within a construction or maintenance environment.
* Experience in at least one trade area such as brickwork, plastering, or carpentry (other trades will also be considered).
* Teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one within a specified period).
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Commitment to supporting learners’ success and progression.
* Understanding of safeguarding and equality principles in education.
