Job Description
An exciting opportunity for a Tooling Design Engineer role in the Product Specific Tooling Team within the New Build and Components Business for Nuclear (Submarines). In this role you will design bespoke tooling and fixturing to support component manufacture and assembly. You will interact with shop floor to ensure the design meets requirements at both concept and post‑manufacture stages.

What You Will Be Doing
 * Guide the full design process from requirements capture to final design.
 * Lead the generation of detailed requirements with customers and stakeholders.
 * Prepare technical documentation (design specifications, justifications, reports, procurement specifications).
 * Ensure design processes are followed both internally and externally.
 * Drive the technical programme to deliver outputs on time, within cost and quality constraints.
Who We’re Looking For
 * Degree in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline (experience considered).
 * Track record of delivering complex, mechanically engineered solutions against specific customer requirements under time, cost and quality constraints.
 * Technical understanding of process design, mechanical design, substantiation, engineering governance, and relevant regulations, codes and standards.
 * Strong knowledge of engineering principles including design for manufacturing, ALARP, design for assembly and maintenance, concurrent engineering, health and safety, environmental awareness and lessons learned.
 * Experience presenting solutions in gated design reviews, demonstrating that all key requirements have been satisfactorily addressed.
 * Desirable: Experience in tooling and fixturing design for component manufacture and assembly.
 * Desirable: Experience with Teamcenter and NX.
Additional Information
To work for the Rolls‑Royce Submarines business an individual must hold a Security Clearance. Rolls‑Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if not already in place. Applicants must be UK nationals or eligible for MoD approved dual nationals.
