Location: Aylesbury (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
Salary: £60,000 per annum
The Opportunity
An established transport organisation is seeking an experienced HSSE Manager - Engineering to join their Health, Safety, Security and Environment function. This is a critical role providing expert HSSE business partner support to the Engineering function, ensuring the safe operation of maintenance and engineering activities across the network during a busy transformation period.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence safety standards, drive compliance, and deliver key initiatives aligned with the company's annual HSSE plan.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide HSSE leadership and support within the Engineering function, acting as the key business partner for managers and teams
* Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety standards, procedures, and risk assessments
* Monitor incident trends and support investigations to ensure lessons are embedded
* Lead and deliver risk-based HSSE audits and compliance reviews
* Oversee accreditation and management system compliance (ISO/PAS99)
* Support safety validation and change management for engineering projects
* Engage effectively with unions and internal stakeholders to support HSSE initiatives
* Represent the organisation externally with regulators, industry bodies, and peer operators
* Lead specific HSSE projects and initiatives, deputising for senior leadership as required
Candidate Profile
* NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational xcswzye Safety and Health
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation and its application to engineering operations
* Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
* Competence in IT applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
* Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification
* Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
* IOSH membership, working towards Chartered (CMIOSH)
* Lead Auditor qualification (or working towards)
