Overview
The Harrow CAMH Service is based at Ash Tree Clinic in South Harrow. The team is a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians delivering a range of therapeutic interventions. The postholder will co-lead the Learning Disabilities sub-team within the Harrow CAMHS Service, providing high-quality psychological care to individuals with learning disabilities and co-occurring mental health and behavioural difficulties. The postholder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the service’s policies and procedures, utilise research skills for audit, policy, and service development, and contribute to research in the area served by the team.
The Harrow CAMHS LD Team forms part of the four main sub-teams: Emotional Disorders, Neurodevelopmental, Enhanced Treatment, and Learning Disabilities. The post holder will hold the role of Sub-Team Lead for the Harrow CAMHS LD Team and may travel within the catchment area and to wider service locations, including community settings such as special schools.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a highly specialist clinical psychology service to children with learning disabilities and their families across all sectors of care; delivering highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, and offering advice and consultation on clients\' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team\'s policies and procedures.
* To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the service area.
* To provide supervision and training to others within Clinical Psychology and the CAMHS LD Team and external partners to the service, working with the client group.
* To liaise and consult with other health care professionals both within and external to the team, including Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, OT's, Psychiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Specialist Teachers, Children's Social Care Workers, voluntary sector groups and others.

The Harrow CAMH service is based at Ash Tree Clinic in South Harrow. The team is well established and is staffed by a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using a broad range of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, systemic and family therapies, psychotherapy, psychoeducation and therapy groups and multi-family work as well as Positive Behaviour Support. Harrow CAMHS consists of four main sub-teams: Emotional Disorders Team; Neurodevelopmental Team; Enhanced Treatment Team, and; Learning Disabilities Team. The post holder will hold the role of Sub-Team Lead for the Harrow CAMHS LD Team. The post holder may also be required to travel to other parts of the catchment area and/or wider service and trust as necessary, including working within the community (e.g., special schools).
The service operates Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 with some flexibility to work extended hours to meet service need.

Training and Qualifications
Essential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology, or counselling psychology, as accredited by the BPS. Training should include models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro-psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist: Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
* Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Applied Behaviour Analysis models.
Desirable
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice especially relevant to complex CAMHS, e.g., Research, CYP-IAPT Therapy Training, CBT, ADOS-2.
* Recent Safeguarding children training.
* Post-qualification training in Supervision of Clinical Psychologists.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the life course with varying levels of clinical severity, including handling highly emotive and distressing situations.
* Experience of assessment and intervention with children and young people with learning disabilities and extreme challenging behaviours.
Desirable
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
* Experience of working with other agencies.
* Experience of applying clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.

* Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including lifespan developmental psychology, psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
* Expertise in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management for complex problems including cognitive behavioural methods.
* Knowledge of the theoretical evidence base for understanding mental health concerns in children and young people.
* Strong communication skills to convey diagnoses and formulations to clients, families, carers and colleagues.
* Experience in providing consultation to professional and non-professional groups.
* Experience in assessing mental health risk and safeguarding concerns.
