We are looking for a compassionate,motivated, and skilled Band 2 Clinical Support Workers who are interestedin completing the Band 3 competency package to become Band 3 Maternity SupportWorkers. About the Role
As a Band 3 MSW, you will:
Provide holistic, compassionate careto birthing people and their babies under the supervision of a registeredmidwife.
Work across antenatal, postnatal,labour ward, community, and clinic settings.
Support families with information,infant feeding, safeguarding, and public health advice.
Lead clinical support workers on ashift-by-shift basis and contribute to efficient team working.

Main duties of the job
Core Responsibilities
Providedirect and indirectcareto women and babies under the supervision of a registeredmidwife.
Deliverevidence-based,compassionate carein hospital and community settings.
Support families withinformation,advice, and access to servicesduring the antenatal and postnatalperiods.
Work withinTrust policies,guidelines, and competency boundaries.
Clinical Duties
Carry outvital signsmonitoringfor mothers and newborns (e.g. temperature, blood sugar,oxygen saturation).
Assist withplanned andemergency caesarean sections, including preparation and neonatalresuscitation support.
Provideinfant feedingsupport(breast and bottle), including education and practical help.
Recognise and escalatesafeguardingconcernsand signs of maternal or neonatal ill-health.
Deliverpublic health advice(e.g.smoking cessation, mental health, safe sleep).

Person Specification
Knowledge and Awareness
* Confidentiality understanding of Information Governance
* Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations
* Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues
Experience
* At least 6 months of care experience working within an acute health care setting delivering personal and clinical care.
* Experience of working within a community setting
* Significant experience of working within maternity services (desirable)
Skills and Abilities
* Utilisation of planning and organisational skills
* Insight into roles responsibilities of post
* Basic IT skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload
* Competent in written, electronic and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English or willingness to undertake
* Completion of a clinical skills competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3 or willingness to undertake
* Care certificate or willingness to undertake within 12 weeks of employment
* Completion of the core MSW competencies in the main area of their employment within 6 months of interview and acceptance onto the programme.
