PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Join the BBC’s Generative AI Programme at the forefront of innovation and transformation. As PMO Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving effective delivery across a complex, high-profile programme shaping how the BBC uses AI to enhance audience experiences, business operations, and creativity. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you’ll ensure governance, alignment, and delivery excellence across multiple workstreams. The Generative AI Programme team is part of the Group Strategy & Transformation division, with the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer sitting on the BBC’s Executive Committee. Your Key Responsibilities And Impact As PMO Manager, you will: Establish and maintain programme governance, ensuring consistent reporting, oversight, and risk management. Track programme deliverables, risks, dependencies, and benefits across all workstreams. Coordinate inputs across teams to produce clear, evidence-based progress updates for boards and senior stakeholders. Support planning, prioritisation, and alignment with BBC strategic objectives. Develop and maintain programme documentation, dashboards, and delivery tools to enable effective decision-making. Identify and drive opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, transparency, and consistency across the programme. Champion best practice in programme management and help build capability within the wider team. Essential Criteria YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Proven experience managing a PMO or supporting complex, multi-stakeholder programmes or portfolios. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage governance, planning, and reporting in dynamic environments. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging at all levels. Experience with risk, dependency, and benefits management frameworks. High proficiency in MS Project or equivalent tools, and confidence analysing data to support decision-making. Desired But Not Required Experience in transformation, digital delivery, or technology-led change. Familiarity with agile or hybrid delivery methodologies. Understanding of generative AI or emerging technologies in media.
