Overview
Compass Community School Redwood Park School in Milton Keynes is opening a new independent day school for pupils 7-19 with SEMH and SEND needs. A brand new 90 place school is being established. Our children come from diverse backgrounds, and the work we do is trauma- and attachment-informed. We provide extensive therapeutic training and support for staff. Our approach places the child at the centre of decision-making, ensuring that education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and our students work together to secure outstanding outcomes.
The Role
We are all principally teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships, and motivating students. We require a Primary Teacher with the ability/willingness to teach Maths and/or English to GCSE level. While accreditation may vary, we maintain high aspirations for our children and recognise the importance of qualifications to provide life chances and opportunities.
Compass Community School teachers inspire children, creating a sense of awe and wonder and making subjects and lessons real and relevant. They plan engaging learning opportunities that challenge students, from basics to those with special talents and passions for the subject. Our children may require managing complex and challenging behaviours, with attention, the right communication, consistency and flexibility, and a non-judgemental approach. We encourage teachers to participate in school decision-making, contribute to the academic curriculum and help shape the extra-curricular offer.
