Job Summary
We are now investing in our Medicines Optimisation Team to underpin this expansion and are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Pharmacy Technician who is ready for the next step in their career. This is largely a project‑based role to support the development, coordination and successful delivery of the Trust's Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Strategy, the Trust value improvement programme, the Trust medicines formulary and the Trust Drug & Therapeutics Committee (DTC) processes. Under the leadership of the Principal Pharmacist Medicines Optimisation, you will work with a wide range of stakeholders including our in‑house pharmacy teams, The Christie Pharmacy, Baxter Healthcare, peripheral and outreach service satellites across the local cancer network, NHS England and more to optimise medicines across the whole patient pathway.

Job Responsibilities
Medicines Optimisation: Identify, scope and implement Value Improvement Programme (VIP) opportunities; facilitate changes to prescribing practice; liaise with clinicians, nursing, procurement and distribution staff; assist in horizon scanning and managed entry of new medicines; prepare complex data for budgeting and commissioner meetings; develop reporting and analysis of prescribing trends across EPMA and dispensing/procurement systems; interpret and influence stakeholders; collate expenditure data; track compliance with NICE guidance; support finance with reports and cost‑saving analyses; monitor IVIG supply; support procurement tenders; manage drug files and error investigations; participate in the DTC, support secretarial duties, ensure accurate documentation; coordinate DTC processes; support communication of optimisation activities; develop new systems to improve service quality; promote medicine use policies; participate in benchmarks and regional audits; support training and development; maintain clinical pharmacy technician roles on wards; support weekend and bank holiday rotas; lead, direct and motivate staff; participate in recruitment, induction, performance reviews, sickness management and training assessment; ensure communication with patients, staff and multidisciplinary teams; comply with COSHH and safe handling of cytotoxic medicines; contribute to audits; maintain clinical pharmacy technician role across designated wards; secure sponsorship and maintain UK professional registration as required.

* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent (C/A)
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (C/A)
* GPhC registration (A)

* Evidence of continuing professional development (A)
