Safeguarding Officer Newstead Primary Academy The Inspirational Learning Academies Trust are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer based at Newstead Primary Academy. The successful candidate will be able to support the work of school in raising the achievement and aspirations of vulnerable children and families in particular by: Enhancing links between school and parents/carers Providing support to individual children and families where social and emotional issues are proving to be barriers to the child’s educational progress. Have good people skills and an ability to communicate well and have empathy with family needs, being approachable to all stakeholders before, during and after the school day. Have the ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional manner, understand the need for confidentiality when appropriate and to ensure clear and sensitive communication with parents/carers and where needed the ability to persuade and negotiate. To liaise with school staff and other agencies keeping them informed of progress made in respect of specified children. Have an understanding of the assessment process for providing early help and intervention. The ability to prioritise, plan and to work on own initiative, without day-to-day supervision. Efficient recording and report writing skills and computer literate. Managing own time effectively and meeting tight deadlines. Demonstrate an ability to cope with stressful/conflict situations. To plan, organise and prepare correspondence with parents for enrichment activities throughout the school day and after school.
