Hillingdon Swimming Club, based in North West London, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Swimming Coach to lead a squad of talented and enthusiastic athletes aged 12 to15, targeting regional qualification andthe potential to compete at home nation summer meets. The squad trains at the excellent facilities of the 50m pool in Uxbridge.
We are committed to building on a successful season and are seeking a new team member to join us with a shared ethos of providing an enjoyable environment where our swimmers will thrive.
Full time (part-time hours considered)
Main Duties
* Plan and deliver sessions in liaison with the Head of Performance that centre on meeting the individual needs of all athletes within the squad with a view to reaching their full senior potential.
* Provide and communicate individual target-setting plans, with clear goals and objectives for all athletes within the squad. Monitor and regularly review the target plans with athletes and parents across the season, adapting plans as progression is achieved.
* Have a passion for focusing on technique and skills to prepare athletes for progressive levels of competition.
* Support the Head of Performance to lead and nurture athletes to succeed.
* Actively contribute to a positive club environment that promotes enjoyment from the sport while maintaining the focus on success.
* Mentor and develop less experienced coaches to enable their progression.
* Assist the Head of Performance in identifying suitable meets for all athletes to ensure a yearly programme is produced to incorporate all events required for athletes to achieve qualification times.
* Assist the Head of Performance and Head of Development with the organisation and team selection for the Arena League and Junior Leagues.
* Support and develop the use of social medial to promote Hillingdon Swimming Club.
* Passionate and fully committed to working with our athletes and club, to make it the very best it can be.
* Patient and fair, who understands an athlete's development is long term and this is managed appropriately. Also, to consider a variety of views when making decisions that include change or affect others.
* Willing to work as part of a team and collaborate with all stakeholders within the club, the coaching staff, athletes, parents and the committee.
* Enthusiastic to learning opportunities or feedback that could lead to self-improvement. Willing to undertake continuous personal development as determined by the Head of Performance.
* Able to communicate well and effectively with all stake holders of the club.
* Empathetic in difficult or emotional situations and recognise individual needs in athletes and colleagues.
* Consistent and willing to listen/offer advice and understand that equality and fairness is always important.
