Assistant Design Manager – Freelance (Calvert-Based)
A major infrastructure joint venture delivering one of the UK's most significant high-speed rail projects is seeking an experienced Assistant Design Manager to join its team on a freelance basis. This is an opportunity to contribute to a programme of national importance, working alongside industry-leading engineering and construction specialists.
The Role
The position sits at the heart of design coordination, assurance, and technical delivery. Key responsibilities include:
1. Participating in readiness reviews, DDRs and IDRs within your area of responsibility.
2. Coordinating the production and delivery of typical section drawings, standard details, and supporting design documentation.
3. Managing day-to-day design activities, including verification, technical review, and interdisciplinary checking.
4. Overseeing third-party design reviews, such as Category 3 checks, and ensuring alignment with construction teams to maintain buildability and programme compliance.
5. Ensuring seamless coordination of design and assurance deliverables across interfacing organisations.
6. Preparing and managing responses to commercial communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs etc.) via CEMAR.
