About the role
We need to make fully carbon-free electricity a daily reality.
Background to the campaign
Climate Group’s RE campaign brings together over companies committed to % renewable electricity based on annual matching. The campaign has been effectively harnessing corporate demand and driving policychange in key markets worldwide.
We’re now excited to launch a next-stage carbon-free electricity campaign that pushes the frontiers of energy markets with an objective to help corporates move towards sourcing% carbon-free electricity, 24 hours per day 7 days per week. This requires an evolution toward more granular electricity tracking, new purchasing strategies, investment in various clean electricity technologies, storage, and demand flexibility, and supporting policies. We aim to build a sufficiently large demand signal to make fullydecarbonized electricity a reality.
This new campaign will collaborate with other organisations actively working on advanced 24/7 carbon-free energy.
The role
The RE Specialist will be instrumental in developing and communicating clear ‘rules of the game’ for corporate sourcing carbon-free electricity on a 24/7 basis.Alongside our international team and partners, the RE Specialist will help convene partners to establish consensus around clear and impactful technical criteria for the 24/7 campaign. This will involve navigating the complex technical issues around definitions of ‘carbon-free’ electricity while engaging on related topics surrounding transparent tracking and reporting of carbon-free electricity generation, storage, and usage.
