Job Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Start Date: September 2025 start Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience) Location: Wigan, WN4 (Ashton-in-Makerfield) Contract: Full-time, Temporary with the potential for a permanent position Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school located just off the A58 in Ashton-in-Makerfield. The school is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to begin immediately, supporting pupils with additional needs and providing tailored learning support in a caring, structured environment. This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. What You’ll Be Doing: Supporting individual pupils or small groups with SEND needs within the classroom. Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans and targeted interventions. Helping pupils to develop confidence, independence, and self-regulation. Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and families to ensure consistent support. Contributing to a positive, inclusive school environment. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with children with SEND in a school or similar setting. A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to meeting a range of learning needs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. An understanding of common SEN conditions such as ASC, ADHD, and SEMH. A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one). Desirable but not essential: Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3).
