Senior Administrator - 20/21 Century Art Department
The Bonhams 20/21 Century Art department in London hosts two Evening sales annually, along with standalone Post-War and Contemporary Art and Impressionist & Modern Art sales. These are complemented by two online Modern & Contemporary Art sales, private sales, and exhibitions. The department collaborates closely with teams in Paris and New York to support global auctions.
Role Responsibilities
* Act as an experienced Sale Coordinator within the department, handling complex or high-volume operations.
* Serve as a subject matter expert in auction administration, providing support and technical advice, and acting as the first escalation point for Sale Coordinators.
* Operate as a super user of Auctioneer 3, Bonhams' bespoke Auction Management System.
* Support onboarding, training, and mentoring of new Sale Coordinators.
* Collaborate with the Head of Auction Administration and senior team on business projects.
* Assist with additional sales and departmental tasks as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Manage clients and property throughout the sale cycle, including receipting, contracts, and payment processing.
* Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders, escalating issues when necessary.
* Coordinate property movement, working with regional offices and logistics teams.
* Support clients post-sale with enquiries, payments, and shipping arrangements.
* Arrange photography and maintain the department's sale interest lists.
* Assist with day-to-day auction activities, including client communication, bidding, and event management.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication skills across all modes.
* Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
* Collaborative, approachable, and solutions-oriented mindset.
* Minimum of 3 years in an auction house administrator role.
