Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A high-performing, inclusive, and ambitious secondary school in Swindon is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent position within an Outstanding school that prides itself on fostering equality, compassion, and achievement for all learners.

About the Role

The SENCO will take a strategic and operational lead in ensuring that students with additional needs receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to thrive academically and socially. They will oversee the coordination of EHCP processes, targeted interventions, and differentiated classroom strategies, working closely with classroom teachers, learning support assistants, and external professionals.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for staff training and professional development, ensuring that inclusive teaching practices are embedded across the curriculum. This will involve designing and delivering CPD sessions, mentoring colleagues, and maintaining a proactive dialogue with parents, carers, and outside agencies.

Beyond administrative leadership, this is a hands-on role within a nurturing school community. The SENCO will regularly observe teaching, provide coaching support, and ensure that provision maps reflect the evolving needs of all pupils.

About the School

This Outstanding school is known for its exceptional pastoral care, inclusive ethos, and consistent record of academic excellence. The leadership team fosters a supportive and transparent working culture, encouraging open communication and collaboration at all levels.

Facilities are modern and thoughtfully designed to meet a diverse range of needs, including dedicated SEND classrooms, quiet study zones, therapy suites, and access to assistive technology. The SEND Department works closely with subject teachers to ensure every pupil can access a curriculum that challenges and inspires them.

The school is proud of its strong partnerships with educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and specialist learning mentors, ensuring that interventions are both evidence-based and impactful.

Staff are encouraged to pursue further qualifications such as NASENCO or NPQ in Leading Behaviour and Culture, and there are clear pathways for career progression within both SEND and whole-school leadership.

Experience and Qualifications

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to complete it

* Proven experience in leading or coordinating SEND provision

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Empathetic leadership style with a commitment to equality and inclusion

How to Apply

Applications are welcomed from passionate and experienced SENCOs who believe that every child deserves an education tailored to their needs and strengths. Please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining your experience, vision for inclusive education, and leadership approach within a supportive, high-achieving school environment.
