We are working with a highly innovative, solution-led technology business operating across advanced energy systems and electrified platforms. Currently a small (<30 heads), agile organisation, it is entering a period of planned growth with ambitions to scale significantly over the next 3–5 years.
The business delivers complex, integrated engineering solutions across battery systems, propulsion and system-level performance, with increasing focus across mobility, marine, defence and wider industrial applications.
This is a hands-on Engineering Manager role, leading a team of engineers while remaining closely involved in technical delivery. The position will play a key role in shaping engineering capability, with a particular focus on development, test, and system validation.
The role
* Lead and develop a team of engineers across energy systems development and delivery
* Drive development and validation of battery systems, propulsion systems, and integrated platforms
* Take a leading role in system-level testing, validation strategies, and performance optimisation
* Support architecture decisions across battery, powertrain/drive train, and control systems
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects from concept through to validation
* Remain hands-on in complex technical challenges, particularly around system performance and integration
* Contribute to NPI and development programmes, ensuring robust and efficient routes to deployment
* Engage with customers and partners on technically complex projects where required
The person
* Strong background in energy systems development and test, ideally within electrified or hybrid platforms
* Experience across battery systems and/or propulsion (powertrain/drive train advantageous)
* Proven capability in system-level thinking, particularly around integration, validation, and performance
* Background within mobility, marine, defence or industrial sectors preferred
* Strong preference for experience gained outside of high-volume automotive environments
* Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a hands-on approach to technical delivery
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with broad technical scope
