Job overview
**This post is being advertised pending Royal College approval**
This is a great opportunity for a WTE (8PA) Consultant for a new 8 bedded female Enhance Care Unit (ECU), based in Derby. This is an exciting time to work for Derbyshire Healthcare. We are currently undertaking a programme to create purpose-built facilities to improve the safety, privacy and dignity for our adult acute mental health patients, by eradicating dormitory accommodation. As part of the programme, we are creating a new state of the art Enhanced Care Unit on our Kingsway Hospital, Derby site.
This will be an 8 bedded unit to support female patients who require a higher intensity of service and higher security than is available on an acute mental health ward, but do not meet the criteria for access to PICU services. The unit will improve the acute service delivery pathway by maintaining a maximum length of stay of under 8 weeks and achieving an average length of stay between X and Y days. The unit is due to open in approximately November 2024.
This post attracts a RRP percentage, based on the bottom of the National Consultant (3) pay scale. This is subject to review and will be paid as a golden hello payment on appointment. Relocation assistance of £0 is also available subject to meeting certain requirements.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside others to establish and develop this new service for Derbyshire and collaborate with an innovative and forward-thinking programme team and senior leaders to design the operational structure, staffing model, and clinical pathways.
The successful applicant will take a key role in the Department, providing clinical leadership to their own team and those within The Working Age Adult Acute Directorate, with which they will be working and supporting current and future service developments.
Working in accordance with our people first approach, you will lead by example, acting as a role model within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the highest level of clinical standards. You will ensure, along with the Ward Manager, that the team provides safe, effective therapeutic care within a newly purpose-built ward environment.
The unit will support patients with mental health conditions who need intensive treatment and support as inpatients, provided within a safe and stable environment for their recovery. You will lead the team and support the wider MDT to create an environment where we acknowledge our service users' cultures, life experiences, and protected characteristics to promote their recovery.
Working for our organisation
The culture within our PICU is aimed at ensuring co-production of care with our service users as an essential part of their recovery journey. The MDT will involve service users, their carers, clinicians, practitioners, and external agencies to ensure that individual recovery care plans are personalized, therapeutic, and effective.
Join 'Team Derbyshire Healthcare' and become part of a talented, compassionate, and enthusiastic workforce committed to a vision of ‘making a positive difference in people's lives’.
