What you will do: Manage the daily operations of the plaster room, prioritising workloads and delegating tasks effectively under the guidance of the Outpatient Manager. Deliver high-quality casting and splinting services across a diverse patient group within the hospital and peripheral services. Apply and remove casts and braces, including complex applications such as scoliosis jackets and hip spicas in theatre. Offer expert advice and management for complex cases, ensuring patient safety through thorough assessments and mobilisation plans. Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and manage the plaster room efficiently during shifts. Use anatomical and physiological knowledge to interpret X-rays and apply casts accordingly. Conduct and manage clinical procedures including wound care, k-wire removal, and external fixator management. Lead and innovate in the casting service, including new areas like diabetic casting. Educate and support staff through tailored training and development programmes, maintaining high standards of care. Liaise with other healthcare professionals to develop, promote, and implement new policies and procedures for improved patient care.
