Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking a skilled Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineer with expertise in Level 0 (L0) and Level 1 (L1) analysis to support the validation of embedded control systems. You will be responsible for developing and executing HIL test scenarios, analyzing signal-level and functional-level behaviors, and ensuring robust system performance across ECUs and subsystems.
Area of Responsibility
HIL Test Development & Execution
1. Design, configure, and maintain HIL test benches using platforms like dSPACE, NI, or Vector
2. Develop test cases for L0 (signal-level) and L1 (functional-level) validation across ECUs
3. Implement fault injection, signal manipulation, and real-time simulation models
L0 / L1 Analysis
4. Perform detailed L0 analysis including signal integrity, timing, and protocol validation (CAN, LIN, SPI)
5. Conduct L1 functional validation of control logic, state machines, and system responses
6. Identify anomalies, root causes, and provide actionable feedback to development teams
Automation & Reporting
7. Automate test sequences using Python, CAPL, or MATLAB scripts
8. Generate test reports, KPIs, and traceability matrices using tools like Jira, DOORS, or Polarion
9. Support continuous integration and regression testing pipelines
Cross-Functional Collaboration
10. Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers to align on test coverage and validation goals
11. Participate in design reviews, test readiness assessments, and issue triage sessions
Knowledge / Experience
12. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
13. Good experience in HIL testing and embedded system validation
14. Strong understanding of L0/L1 testing methodologies and automotive communication protocols
15. Hands-on experience with HIL platforms (dSPACE, NI, Vector) and test automation tools
16. Familiarity with requirement management and traceability tools
Preferred Attributes
17. Experience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial control systems
18. Knowledge of ISO 26262 and functional safety validation
19. Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and debugging skills
20. Exposure to model-based development and SIL/MIL testing
