We are excited to announce a new fixed-term opportunity for a Development Test Engineer located in Severn Beach, Bristol. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the Product Development team by investigating intricate product challenges, validating innovative design solutions, and enhancing our products and processes through thorough testing and development.
Product Engineering Issues on Released Platforms
* Selective engineering problems relating to design and/or issues identified by customers are investigated in a thorough manner.
* Identification of root causes. Follow the PT problem solving methodology or 8D RCA investigation tools where necessary.
* Collation of evidence and reporting concise and traceable.
* Use appropriate and/or initiate new build documentation to support the assembly and test plans.
* Capable of interrogating BOM's, ECO's and DP's effectively.
Product Improvements and Product Correction Validation
* From information provided by the design team, implement improvements to current released products including control systems, plumbing, pneumatics and mechanical elements.
* Test documentation is developed to ensure product improvements are fully tested to meet performance and customer expectations.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to production engineering and test department following any product improvement validation activities or outcomes from the product development team.
* Support corrective action requests, typically FRN (fault reports) and DP's deviation permits.
* Provide feedback to the design team regarding suitability and robustness of solutions, with particular attention to DFM, DFA and DFS.
* Products are manufactured and tested to the standards set out in our documentation.
* Support the Manufacturing engineering team to keep documentation (SOP, instructions) up to date.
Quality Assurance
* Monitor, report and optimise product quality.
* Upon assignment, respond to Quality Notifications and customer feedback/faults on commissioning relating to product improvements in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications
HND or higher in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic disciplines.
* Substantial experience in electro‑mechanical systems production engineering environment – preferably small batch, high technology system integration, ideally with machining/fabs.
* Experience in a fast‑paced operations environment.
* Commercial awareness.
* Knowledge of Design validation methodologies, such as Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Service (DFS).
* Problem‑solving skills.
* Recent and practical experience of mechanical and electrical assembly.
