The JobWe are seeking a Tax Accountant to lead on UK corporate tax and VATpliance. This is a part-time role (21 hours per week) that is majority home-based, with occasional visits to the organisation’s office in South West London.
You will:
1. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations) and annual Corporation Tax returns.
2. Monitor HMRC guidance and ensurepliance across the organisation.
3. Provide expert technical advice onplex charity tax matters to senior leaders.
4. Liaise with external VAT advisors and internal teams onpliance for ie streams such as fundraising, royalties, and trading activities.
5. Deliver VAT and tax awareness training to finance staff and wider teams.
6. Review and improve tax processes and systems for greater efficiency.
The Person
7. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) or Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
8. Strong experience preparing and submitting VAT and Corporation Tax returns.
9. Excellent knowledge of HMRC guidance and its application to business processes.
10. Advanced Excel skills and ability tomunicate effectively at all levels.
11. Dynamic, detail-oriented, and process-driven with strong problem-solving skills.
12. You’ll be someone who is motivated by the organisation’s mission andfortable working in a Christian faith-based environment, where team members are sometimes asked to lead prayers or participate in times of reflection.
Desirable:
13. Experience providing tax advice in the charity sector.
14. Familiarity with accounting and tax packages.
15. Knowledge of reverse-charge VAT and multiple accounting systems.
