Job overview

Do you want the opportunity to shape and develop community mental health services in South Wiltshire? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated practitioner to join our team in a specialist clinical leadership role, working with individuals who present with non‑psychotic disorders and Complex Emotional Needs (CEN).

In this role, you will take the lead for the non‑psychotic care pathway, providing expert oversight, guidance and support to colleagues within the pathway. You will manage a small, complex caseload where required, while also offering case consultation, supervision and leadership to staff to support safe, effective and compassionate care delivery. The post holder will hold caseload supervision responsibilities for practitioners working within the non‑psychotic pathway.

You will be a qualified Mental Health Nurse or Social Worker, with proven experience supporting service users with non‑psychotic presentations. A sound working knowledge of Structured Clinical Management (SCM)—our current model of care for individuals with Complex Emotional Needs—is essential. You will also bring confidence and experience in medication management, alongside a strong commitment to collaborative, recovery‑focused practice.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is keen to influence service development, lead best practice, and make a meaningful difference to the lives of service users within the community.

Main duties of the job

Provide senior clinical leadership within the non‑psychotic pathway, contributing to the ongoing development and delivery of services in line with local priorities and national policy, including the Community Mental Health Framework.

Lead on the implementation and delivery of interventions for individuals with non‑psychotic presentations and Complex Emotional Needs, ensuring care is evidence‑based, trauma‑informed and recovery focused.

Champion best practice and quality improvement, supporting service development initiatives and embedding consistent, high‑quality clinical standards across the pathway.

Hold a small, complex caseload when required, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred clinical care and ensuring positive outcomes for people who use services.

Provide clinical oversight and caseload supervision to staff working within the non‑psychotic pathway, supporting reflective practice, safe clinical decision‑making and high‑quality care planning and treatment delivery.

Ensure appropriate oversight of medication management, including monitoring, review and adherence to safe prescribing and governance requirements within the non‑psychotic pathway.

Contribute to service continuity and leadership resilience by providing cross‑cover for other Band 7 roles (Senior Practitioner / Manager) within the team as required.
