Job Description
Contribute as part of a team to the provision of a quality early learning and childcare service for children aged 0-8 years and their families. Work to the principles of the national care standards for early education and childcare and abide by the Code of Practice for Social Service Workers.
Requirements
The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member regarding Regulated Work with these groups, or if already a member, to undergo a PVG Scheme Record Update before a formal job offer can be made by East Ayrshire Council. PVG records are continually updated, and any relevant information will be discussed with the applicant prior to employment.

The Individual
This is a temporary, full-time, term-time position based at Cairns Early Childhood Centre, Kilmarnock, until 12 June 2026. The role involves working 35 hours per week under the direction of the line manager. The annual salary ranges from £30,176 to £32,287 for full-time, or £25,881 to £27,692 for part-time term-time employment.
