SEMH Teaching Assistant – Egham | Immediate Start An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Egham on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them succeed within a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment. About the School This small specialist SEMH provision supports approximately 15–20 students, creating a close-knit, supportive, and highly personalised setting. With just two classrooms, the school is able to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including: SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Autism ADHD PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) The Role Full-time position, Monday to Friday Working hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm One day per week until 5:00pm for curriculum planning and staff meetings Key responsibilities include: Supporting students both academically and emotionally Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviours Encouraging engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support and guidance Helping to create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment Requirements ✅ Previous SEN or SEMH experience is essential ✅ Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, PDA, or behavioural needs is highly desirable ✅ Strong behaviour management skills ✅ Calm, resilient, and compassionate approach ✅ Ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries Staff Wellbeing & Benefits The school places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and mental health, offering: Free confidential counselling support for all staff Access to premium wellbeing and mental health apps funded by the school Supportive leadership team and welcoming staff culture If you are an experienced SEMH or SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity within a supportive specialist setting, we would love to hear from you.
