Shift Leader - Production

£30,000 per annum
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Telford, is currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Leader to join their production operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated production professional looking to take the next step in their leadership career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotating weekly shift pattern:
* Week 1: Monday to Thursday - 6:00am to 2:00pm | Friday - 6:00am to 10:00am
* Week 2: Monday to Thursday - 2:00pm to 10:00pm | Friday - 10:00am to 2:00pm
The Role
As Shift Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing production teams, ensuring operational targets are achieved, and maintaining high standards across quality, safety, and productivity. You will lead by example, support continuous improvement activities, and work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate production teams to achieve KPI and throughput targets
* Ensure production schedules are maintained and operational priorities are met
* Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, Continuous Improvement, and 5S activities
* Monitor team performance, training records, and skills matrices
* Conduct staff appraisals and support recruitment and onboarding activities
* Ensure all production documentation and reporting systems are accurately maintained
* Investigate production and quality issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions
* Promote and maintain a safe working environment in line with company procedures
* Manage attendance, absence, and performance matters appropriately
* Communicate effectively across shift handovers to ensure continuity of operations
* Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other support functions to minimise downtime
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within manufacturing or production
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Experience managing KPIs and production targets
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
* Ability to problem solve and work effectively under pressure
* Good understanding of health & safety within a manufacturing environment
* Organised, proactive, and capable of leading teams positively
