The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and this role is a Food and Beverage Team Leader within one of our rural cafes. Applicants should consider how to commute to this location before applying.
Salary and Hours
Salary: £13.25 per hour
Hours: 1300 per year (annualised).
Salary is paid in 12 equal instalments throughout the year.
Working Pattern
Work will mainly be between February half‑term and October half‑term, with minimal work off‑season except during Christmas. Weekends and bank holidays are required; evenings are not.
Duration
Permanent position.
Responsibilities
* Gives day‑to‑day support to the team, ensuring consistent and excellent service to all café visitors.
* Manages front‑of‑house operations, serving food and drink and maintaining a lively, welcoming environment.
* Maintains visual standards: displays, signage, and food presentation.
* Assists the kitchen team with food preparation when necessary.
* Supervises induction and training of new colleagues, building a team dedicated to outstanding service.
Qualifications
No prior experience is required, but we especially welcome candidates who:
* Are focused on delivering great service to everyone.
* Show teamwork while also being able to work independently.
* Are well‑organised and adaptable.
* Can lead, support, and develop a team.
* Handle a variety of situations, including complaints.
* Have a willingness to learn new skills.
Training & Development
We provide induction tailored to the role, training in allergens and food safety, and any necessary mentoring. Candidates may sign up for further professional training and development if desired.
