A Vacancy at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited to commence September 2027. The post will be for a period of 12 months.
The aim of the post will be to enable independent practice in skull base surgery, cochlear implantation and complex otology within a multidisciplinary setting as well as providing the opportunity to carry out high quality clinical research.
The successful applicant will work between Salford Royal Hospital, where the skull base service is based, and the Manchester Royal Infirmary, where the cochlear implant and NF2 services are based.
They will work closely with the neurosurgical team at Salford Royal and the cochlear implant team at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
The successful applicant will attend regular weekly supervised skull base and cochlear implant operating lists.
They will also attend specialist skull base, neurotology and cochlear implant clinics.
The aim of the post will be to enable independent skull base and cochlear implant practice with the support of a multidisciplinary team.
In addition, time will be made available to maintain their research interests.
They will take part in the Otolaryngology SpR on call rota on a 1 in 8 basis.
The on call is non-resident.
The successful applicant will play an important role in the day to day management of skull base and cochlear implant in-patients and out-patients.
In particular, they will liaise with associated specialties within the hospital as well as external centres to ensure the smooth running of the firms.
They will also have a central role in the co-ordination of the multidisciplinary meetings.
