Job purpose
The Cleaner is responsible for keeping the nursery clean and hygienic.
KEY WORK AREAS
* Working autonomously outside nursery opening hours to ensure the nursery is clean, presentable and hygienic, ready for the children arriving the next morning.
* Telling the Nursery Manager when cleaning products need to be ordered.
* Contributing to basic maintenance and care of equipment and appliances.
Infection Control
* Ensuring correct cloths and mops are used.
* Using approved cleaning agents when carrying out cleaning, washing and polishing duties.
Whole Nursery
Responsible for:
* Sweeping and mopping all floors using warm water and floor cleaner (not bleach)
* Emptying any bins that have not been emptied, clean bin lids when required.
* Responding to any particular requests by staff should they require additional/specific cleaning for a certain area within an agreed time frame.
* Ensuring all moveable furniture is moved and swept under and replaced on a weekly basis.
* Hoovering all carpeted areas and any rugs that are left out. Hoover bags should be replaced when needed and ordered when required.
* Dusting TV monitors, telephones, windowsills, door and window faces and shelves regularly.
Toilets
Responsible for:
* Cleaning all toilets and sinks every night.
* Disabled toilets – area where hand rails are should be cleaned and dusted regularly.
* Wiping down toilet doors and walls where needed.
* Wiping down all pipe work behind and under sinks and toilets, including mirrors behind sinks, hand soap containers, hand dryers, paying special attention underneath the hand driers.
* Cleaning of fans in bathrooms/ nappy changing rooms, weekly
Playrooms
* Windows, sills, walls and skirtings should be cleaned regularly.
* Doors within nursery with glass panels should also be cleaned regularly.
Staffroom
* These should be cleaned by staff, but at weekends the cleaner should wash out the microwave and all surfaces.
* The fridge should be cleaned out monthly by the Cleaner. Staff should be warned beforehand when this is going to happen.
Other
* To ensure that all aspects of the Nursery business are kept strictly Confidential
* Adapting, responding or providing innovating working practices to meet changing demands or priorities.
