Job Description
Analytics Manager
West Greater London area | Hybrid
£75,000–£80,000 + bonus
The context
I’m working with a commercially focused, multi-site business going through a period of change and modernisation. This hire will oversee the Data & Analytics function and be central to stabilising, shaping and elevating the team. This isn’t a maintenance role. It’s about leading a capable team through change and helping the business use data more intelligently.
The role
You’ll manage a small team of analysts who are technically strong and operating to support all the different business divisions. They understand their data and stakeholders. What they need is direction, structure and a credible leader.
The split is:
* more time spent on leadership and stakeholder engagement
* about 20-25% of time for hands-on technical involvement
You’ll need to be comfortable reviewing SQL, challenging approach, and stepping in where needed. But your real value will come from:
* Providing clarity and structure after a period of change
* Building momentum and confidence within the team
* Managing up to senior leadership with clear, commercially focused insight
* Shifting the function from reactive reporting to more proactive analysis
There is a separate data engineering team, so this is about owning and leading the analytics layer, telling stories with data and extracting commercially valuable insights, not building pipelines from scratch.
What we’re looking for
You’ll likely be a strong Analytics Manager or Senior Analytics Manager who:
* Has experience managing and developing analysts
* Is confident in SQL and data visualisation tools
* Has presented to senior stakeholders and can translate complex data into clear narrative
* Has led teams through change or turnaround situations
* Enjoys enabling others to perform at their best
This role requires technical credibility, emotional intelligence and commercial awareness in equal measure.
The environment
It’s a fast-moving, ambitious business with high expectations around data and performance. Senior stakeholders are engaged and data-hungry, so confidence and clarity in communication are essential.
Hybrid working, with an expectation of being in the office ~3 times a week near Reading to be close to the leadership team.
This won't be for you if:
* You are a fresh graduate or very early in your analytics career - this role requires an experienced analytics professional who's confident in their technical skills, and leadership capability from managing direct reports before.
* You want to code all day every day and be fully in the data without any stakeholder-facing work - this role is much more about working with management and leading the team from the front.
* You want a remote role - the hybrid working policy of 3 days in-person is fixed.
If you’re ready to take ownership of a team, guide them through change, and have genuine influence on how data shapes decisions, this is worth a conversation!
