Job Description:
The Company
This established manufacturer, with a strong regional footprint and growing international customer base, is entering a critical period of operational and strategic change. With robust revenues and a loyal client portfolio, the business is now seeking to modernise its finance function to support future scalability, investment, and operational excellence.
The Role
As Fractional CFO, you will:
* Lead the professionalisation of the finance function, embedding rigour, structure, and consistency across processes, controls, and reporting.
* Provide strategic oversight and challenge to the Board and ownership group, offering clear financial insight to support informed decision-making.
* Enhance the quality and reliability of management information, including cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and working capital management.
* Strengthen internal controls, improve system usage, and establish scalable reporting frameworks to support long-term growth.
* Mentor and develop the existing finance team to increase autonomy, technical confidence, and business alignment.
* Support the business on broader strategic matters such as capex planning, margin analysis, supplier engagement, and funding structures.
* Operate as a trusted commercial sounding board to the Managing Director and senior leadership.
Your Profile
You will ideally have:
* A formal accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
* Proven experience as a senior finance leader within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
* A background in helping businesses move from "owner-led" or "family-run" finance models to a more formalised, future-proofed structure.
* Strong working knowledge of SME finance operations, with a hands-on style and commercial sensibility.
* The credibility to influence both operational teams and ownership stakeholders, offering practical improvements without over-complication.
Compensation & Benefits
This Fractional CFO opportunity pays £700-1,000 per day, depending on experience and profile. The business requires a 1-2 day per week commitment, with at least one day per week on-site in Greater Manchester.
Youll be joining a committed leadership team, eager to invest in professionalising their business and unlocking its next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to have genuine impact-shaping both people and process, while providing strategic financial stewardship at a pivotal time.
