I am currently assisting my clients in the Midlands identify a new Community Safety Manager to support the service.
Role: Community Safety Manager
Rate: Negotiable
Contract Length: 6 months
Days on site: Hybrid
This role centres on coordinating efforts to improve public safety and reduce crime through strong partnership working. The position involves engaging with a wide range of agencies and community stakeholders to deliver preventative initiatives and support vulnerable residents.
Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with public sector partners, voluntary organisations, and community groups.
* Represent the organisation at partnership boards, strategic meetings, and regional or national forums.
* Lead the development and implementation of community safety strategies, policies, and action plans.
* Oversee projects that adopt public health approaches to reducing crime and supporting at-risk individuals.
* Identify emerging risks and community tensions, ensuring appropriate interventions are put in place.
* Coordinate initiatives addressing anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, youth violence, exploitation, and modern slavery.
* Provide professional advice on legislation, safeguarding duties, and best practice in community safety.
* Manage performance by monitoring KPIs, evaluating outcomes, and improving service delivery.
* Produce reports, briefings, and data analysis for senior leaders, elected members, and partnership groups.
* Lead on funding opportunities, including preparing and submitting grant applications for community programmes.
* Support and contribute to training on safeguarding, Prevent, and wider community safety topics.
Required Experience:
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams effectively.
* Proven experience working in a community safety, partnership, or programme management role within the public sector.
* Ability to build and influence relationships with senior stakeholders and partner agencies.
* Experience working collaboratively across multi-agency environments such as local authorities, policing, or public health.
* Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, relevant legislation, and crime reduction strategies.
* Confident in analysing data and presenting insights clearly to a range of audiences.
* Experience delivering projects, strategies, and action plans within a complex organisational setting.
* Relevant qualification or equivalent practical experience.
* Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
* Commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
* Basic DBS check required.
