Emergency Planning and Site Support Officer

The closing date is 09 June 2026.

An opportunity has arisen for an Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) and Site Team Support Officer. The post holder will work as part of the HDFT EPRR Team, directly reporting to the EPRR Lead, and support the development and maintenance of emergency preparedness arrangements across the organisation.

This role is integral to achieving compliance with NHS EPRR core standards by developing and implementing emergency plans and business continuity management.

Key responsibilities:

* Support the Trust response to major/critical and business continuity incidents when required, including Incident Coordination Centre management.
* Assist the EPRR Lead in developing, coordinating and delivering the EPRR agenda.
* Support development of policy and internal plans, and deputise for the EPRR Lead.
* Develop and maintain a work programme for delivery of EPRR‑related training and exercising.
* Lead on specific areas of work as agreed with the EPRR Lead.
* Oversee the development of the On‑Call Senior Managers and Directors Rota.
* Represent the Trust and work closely with external partners such as NHS Trusts, NHS England, ICBs and Local Resilience Forums in developing multi‑agency plans, and participate actively in training and exercising.
* Support with information requests from partner agencies.
* Assist the EPRR Lead in developing and completing Trust assurances and reports.
* Support the day‑to‑day functions of the Site Team where possible.
* Act as the Subject Matter Expert for EPRR for the Trust.

Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
* Business Continuity qualification.


Experience

* Partnership working across a range of agencies.
* Database management, including system administration, data interrogation and user‑friendly presentation.
* Working within a multi‑agency environment.
* Working to tight deadlines.
* Previous experience in an Acute or Primary Health Care setting.
* Emergency Planning or Business Continuity management experience.
* Organising and facilitating meetings with committees or groups, including agenda preparation and minute taking.
* Planning and delivering training in Emergency Planning and Major Incident / Business Continuity response to staff groups and individuals.


Knowledge

* Understanding of EPRR and Business Continuity.
* Evidence of project work and multi‑agency collaboration.
* Understanding of equality and diversity issues and their impact on patients, visitors and staff.
* Knowledge of NHS EPRR guidance and legislation such as the Civil Contingencies Act.
* Understanding of risk management principles and practice.


Skills

* Excellent written and presentation skills.
* Accurate typing and advanced document formatting skills.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic information systems with advanced keyboard skills.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Excellent time‑management skills and ability to reprioritise.
* Attention to detail and ability to proof‑read.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Ability to concentrate in a workplace with frequent interruptions.
* Good understanding of healthcare and the NHS.

Salary

£39,959 to £48,117 a year (pro rata).
