Director, Digital Transformation & Smart Buildings

Role Purpose / The Team

CBRE's Digital Advisory team sits at the forefront of transforming the built environment through technology and data. We partner with clients - including investors, developers, occupiers, and public bodies - across the full real estate lifecycle to develop and implement innovative digital strategies. Our approach is business-led, focusing on identifying the right digital solutions to drive value, enhance performance, and achieve sustainability objectives for people, planet, and places. We take a strategic approach to identify the best digital solutions, shaping the strategy, informing the business case, and implementing sustainable digital change. We advise on a range of topics, including smart building solutions, data analytics, digital workplace, integration platforms, and emerging technologies like Digital Twins and IoT.

We are seeking an experienced Director to join our rapidly growing Digital Advisory team. This role will be instrumental in expanding our proposition, delivering transformative outcomes for our clients, and shaping the future of intelligent real estate. You will be a subject matter expert in the smart buildings / IoT domain, with a proven track record of delivering successful advisory projects and building strong client relationships. While real estate sector experience is favourable, we welcome candidates with relevant experience in other sectors.

Key Responsibilities

* As Director in the Digital Advisory team, your role will involve:
* Strategic Leadership: Support the Head of Digital Advisory and contribute to the overall strategic direction and growth of the Digital Advisory team within CBRE.
* Project Oversight: Lead and manage the delivery of complex digital transformation programmes, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. This include supporting and mentoring team members.
* Client Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior clients, providing expert guidance on smart building technologies, trends, and their impact on real estate value, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
* Business Development: identify and secure new business opportunities, leading the preparation and delivery of bids and proposals for digital transformation projects.
* Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Actively monitor, advise and drive insight on emerging market, sector and other relevant trends and best practices to support the on-going evolution of the team and their current and new market propositions and product developments. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies and integrate them into projects and 'thought leadership' pieces.
* Collaborative Solutioning: Work with specialists throughout CBRE (and, occasionally, specialist sub-contractors) to bring best in class solutions.
* Operational Management: Oversee and optimise the Digital Advisory teams operational processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance, whilst managing risk and compliance with contractual requirements. Have a keen eye on profitability, supporting the team to manage project finances and resources to achieve the expected metrics. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive business growth and operational excellence.
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing consulting team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, set clear goals, and provide regular feedback to ensure team alignment with organisational objectives.

Person Specification/Requirements:

* Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in a consulting or advisory role focused on Smart Buildings and/or Smart Places.
* A passion for technology and innovation within the built environment, with a strong commitment to sustainability and digital transformation.
* Experience with a major real estate firm or management consultancy is highly desirable.
* Experience in Digital Strategy, Solutioning and Transformation, including; SMART Buildings, The Internet of Things and Digital Twin or other relevant consulting roles
* Recognised qualifications(s) and/or accreditation(s) in areas relevant to the above, including proficiency in relevant management consultancy tools and techniques
* Private and public sector client experience.
* Strong commercial acumen and market awareness with a demonstrated ability to win work, cultivate client relationships, and drive revenue growth.
* Experience in team leadership and operational management in a consulting environment
* Track record in business development activities, including opportunity origination, solution development and project conversion with clients
* Proven ability to communicate complex digital real estate concepts to diverse audiences
* Excellent written, oral and graphical communication skills, including experience of leading pitches, reports, and presentations with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Excellent interpersonal skills including public speaking and leading C-Level engagement and workshops
* Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high quality client deliverables
* Adept at agile working, flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, including managing multiple commissions and competing priorities simultaneously
* Proven ability to mentor and support the career development of junior staff
