Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Office Fit-Out & Refurbishment
Location: St Albans
Salary: £260/£280 Day Rate
Contract Type: Freelance 20 weeks

About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specialising in commercial office fit-out and refurbishment projects. You’ll play a key role in cost management from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring financial control and project profitability across a range of fast-track and high-quality schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare cost plans, estimates, and tender documentation.
* Manage project budgets, valuations, and cost reporting throughout the lifecycle.
* Procure subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate terms, and issue contracts.
* Evaluate and manage variations, change orders, and interim applications.
* Liaise with clients, design teams, and site staff to ensure project objectives are met.
* Prepare and settle final accounts and project close-out reports.
* Monitor risk and value management procedures.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
* Minimum [3+] years’ experience in commercial fit-out or refurbishment projects.
* Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement routes.
* Excellent numerical, negotiation, and reporting skills.
* Proficient in MS Excel and estimating software (e.g. CostX, Bluebeam, etc.).
* Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines.
Desirable:
* MRICS or working toward chartership.
* Experience in CAT A and CAT B office fit-outs.
* Familiarity with live environment refurbishment work.
