About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the world-renowned Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Institute at the University of Nottingham. Working in a state-of-the-art facility, the role holder will play a crucial part in the development and optimisation of systems, processes and procedures associated with the manufacture of advanced electrical machines.
The role will involve applying a range of technical and professional skills obtained from relevant industrial or research environments to manufacture and test products and systems against design and project requirements, while ensuring compliance with applicable standards. The role encompasses all aspects of manufacturing, including requirements capture and problem formulation, process optimisation and capability development, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, data acquisition and analysis, setting and achieving EHS&Q objectives and targets, and driving continuous improvements.
The role holder will work within a dedicated manufacturing team, and in close collaboration with internal and external customers, to implement and/or lead the development of innovative solutions for a diverse portfolio of industrial and research applications.
About You
You should have a BEng in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Aerospace / Automotive Engineering at 2:1 or equivalent, with a strong commitment to the practical application of research. The ability to work in a team, lead both internally and externally, and interact & collaborate actively and professionally with industrial partners is essential. The role holder must be able to demonstrate experience of working with different manufacturing technologies and processes, especially wire forming and laser welding and have proven mechanical design skills with proficiency in at least one 3D CAD package.
