We are looking for an experienced, motivated, forward‑thinking ODP/ Registered Nurse to work in our Surgical Theatres and Brachytherapy departments on a bank‑only contract. Our Oncology theatre suite specialises in Colorectal, Plastic, Urology and Gynaecology, including robotic surgery using Da Vinci Xi Robots. This is an adult‑only patient group.
Successful candidates must have experience as a theatre practitioner in at least one area, anaesthetics, recovery (including level 2 patients) or scrub and hold a valid NMC or HCPC registration. Supervisor/accessor experience is preferred.

Main duties of the job
* Participate as a member of the Anaesthetic/Recovery/Scrub Theatre team with extensive knowledge in the care of the peri‑operative patient.
* Demonstrate high standards of individual patient care with commitment to evidence‑based practice.
* Competently care for the peri‑operative patient including assessment, planning, and evaluation of care programmes.
* liaise and integrate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and promote a team approach.
* Develop good working relationships and promote effective communication between all clinical grades of staff.
* Ensure proficiency with all medical equipment before use in accordance with the Trust medical device policy.
* liaise with peri‑operative teams to initiate and participate in audit and evaluation of clinical practice and surgical products to promote quality care.
* Work with senior colleagues to formulate practice development strategies based on audit findings.
* Encourage and participate in initiatives to enhance quality care.
* Be proactive towards change and change management.
* Promote and maintain an environment conducive to professional development.
* Take responsibility for own professional development.
* Participate in the theoretical and practical professional instruction of all learners, trained and untrained, including medical students and other allied medical professions.
* Monitor the progress of learners, particularly their skills in practical procedures.
* Act as a clinical role model for new staff, reflecting departmental standards.
* Ensure correct administration of drugs and treatments in line with Trust policy, including controlled drug management.
* Offer help and advice to patients’ relatives and friends in a caring supportive manner.
* Ensure safe use and efficient management of equipment and supplies.
* Maintain cleanliness of clinical area in collaboration with team.
* Maintain access to and use computerised patient records in accordance with Trust policy.
* Use scan track system and track/trace all medical devices used in theatre after training.
* Attend mandatory updates and demonstrate mandatory Trust competencies.
* Work as Theatre co‑ordinator under senior guidance.
* Provide on‑call coverage as per rota.
* Participate in quality assurance and risk management initiatives.
* Maintain accurate documentation.
* Demonstrate competency in information technology resources, particularly Patient Records.
* Communicate complex information effectively to patients and multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain own professional status and ensure NMC or HCPC registration requirements are met.
* Comply with all nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Maintain a safe environment for self and others.
* Co‑operate with the Trust to meet statutory requirements.
* Provide statements regarding untoward incidents as requested by Senior Nurse.
* Ensure all staff attend mandatory training annually.
Qualifications
* IST level Registered Nurse with a recognised Anaesthetic qualification and recovery experience or an Operating Department Practitioner.
* Diploma level education in relevant practice.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Working towards Degree.
* Mentorship and Assessment Course.
* Willing to undertake own further professional development.
Experience
* Previous experience within operating theatres.
* Anaesthetic experience / Recovery experience.
* Paediatric experience.

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 a year, pro rata. Per annum.
