The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent. We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment.
An opportunity has arisen to join the council's planning strategy and implementation team as a CDS planner, working with friendly and supportive colleagues and dealing with a wide variety of planning policy work relating to the future growth of our borough.
You may also have opportunity to work across the wider planning function of the Council including development management and planning policy. As a strong communicator, verbal and written, you may undertake all areas of planning for the local authority, including attending developer meetings and planning committees.
Decisiveness and ambition for our borough are key qualities in this role so that you discharge our important statutory functions, play a key role in advising on and facilitating effective service delivery.
The post is a career development scheme which offers progression and development opportunities. The pay band and level of training that is undertaken will be dependent on the successful candidate experience and education level. The successful candidate must be committed to securing qualifications and to acquire the necessary technical knowledge to undertake the duties of this post.
If you would like to be part of Basildon's success, we look forward to receiving your application.
