Passionate about work opportunities and life skills for disabled people?
Become a Trustee at Watford Workshop and help shape our future.
For over 60 years, Watford Workshop has empowered adults with disabilities through meaningful work, training, and community connection. We’re a social enterprise and registered charity with a dual purpose:
✅ Delivering high-quality commercial fulfilment services for businesses across the UK.
✅ Creating sustainable work and skill-building opportunities for disabled adults.
We’re now seeking new Trustees to join our Board - people who bring strategic vision, integrity, and empathy, and who want to make a tangible difference in how inclusion works in the real world.
Your Role
As a Trustee, you’ll help guide the organisation’s strategy, financial resilience, and long-term sustainability. You’ll work collaboratively with our Chair and CEO to ensure we deliver on our mission and remain a model of good governance, ethical leadership, and social impact.
This is a voluntary, non-executive position, typically requiring attendance at quarterly board meetings and occasional support between sessions.
You’ll be part of a team of other trustees that contribute strategy, vision and experience to the future of the organisation.
What You’ll Do
* Provide strategic direction and oversight to the CEO.
* Support the Workshop’s financial and operational health.
* Contribute to reviews of progress, risk, and organisational goals.
* Champion good governance, compliance, and ethical standards.
* Share your expertise to strengthen our team and support our service users’ growth.
* Represent the Workshop’s values in the wider community.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for individuals who combine strategic thinking with social purpose. You might bring experience from business, finance, HR, marketing, education, social care, or governance.
Personal qualities matter most:
* Strategic vision and sound judgment.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
* Integrity, tact, and the confidence to ask good questions.
* A genuine commitment to inclusion and community impact.
* Willingness to contribute time, energy, and insight.
Why Join Us
This is more than a governance role. It’s a chance to help shape a respected organisation that changes lives through work.
You’ll be joining a forward-thinking team led by an experienced CEO and an engaged Board, at a time when inclusive employment has never mattered more.
