Our Market Access practice are looking for an experienced Consultant to join the team.
The energy transition is accelerating engagement in, access to, and evolution of energy markets globally. Monetisation of Renewables and Flexible Generation & Trading is a central theme for decarbonisation of global grids and energy markets. Every single energy trader, energy supplier, asset developer and network operator must understand how their role will change and their business models adapt to remain successful.
As rapid digital innovation collides with this energy market transformation, our Market Access Team is working at the frontier of data-driven strategy, flexible asset optimisation, and smart trading solutions. We are looking to grow our capability in digital and data consulting – enabling clients to make better decisions, build smarter products, and realise more value from energy market participation.
This role will suit technically literate consultants who are passionate about solving complex energy problems with data and digital tools. You’ll be helping clients go from ‘what if’ to ‘let’s build it’ – shaping digital strategies, developing use cases, and delivering scalable solutions across the trading and optimisation value chain.
What you will be doing
You will be collaborating with our clients to:
1. Develop digital and data strategies that align with trading, asset, or commercial market access goals.
2. Define and prioritise high-value use cases for data and analytics across energy market activities.
3. Support data product design, including architecture, governance, user interaction, and commercial value.
4. Work across teams to support delivery of bespoke or platform-based digital solutions ( forecasting, trading automation, revenue modelling).
5. Translate functional energy/trading knowledge into data models, interfaces, and insight.
6. Bridge the gap between business and technical teams in projects involving cloud architecture, data science, or application development.
7. Provide oversight, assurance or delivery input across key project stages (ideation, MVP, scale-up).
Your skills and experience
We’re looking for consultants who bring curiosity, technical fluency, and relevant sector insight. You will have real-world experience in translating business context and user needs into impactful digital solutions.
You may have experience in:
8. Data architecture, data engineering, data science, analytics, and/or AI/ML;
9. Knowledge of energy markets, trading, renewables, or flexibility optimisation;
10. Knowledge of revenue mechanisms for flexibility across multiple geographies ( BESS, DSR, gas peakers etc.);
11. Designing or delivering digital tools or platforms that serve commercial or operational users;
12. Business analysis, agile delivery, or product management in digital settings;
13. Bridging functional and technical domains – translating user needs into digital features or roadmaps;
14. Working with (or adjacent to) teams building analytics tools, APIs, cloud-native platforms, or decision support tools.
Senior hires will also be expected to:
15. Shape digital propositions and lead key client relationships;
16. Drive value-based prioritisation of digital and data initiatives;
17. Coach teams on product delivery, technical communication, and agile execution.
What a career at Baringa will give you
Putting People First.
Baringa is a People First company and wellbeing is at the forefront of our culture. We recognise the importance of work-life balance and flexible working and provide our staff amazing benefits. Some of these benefits include:
18. Generous Annual Leave Policy: We recognise everyone needs a well-deserved break. We provide our employees with 5 weeks of annual leave, fully available at the start of each year. In addition to this, we have introduced our 5-Year Recharge benefit which allows all employees an additional 2 weeks of paid leave after 5 years continuous service.
19. Flexible Working: We know that the ‘ideal’ work-life balance will vary from person to person and change at different stages of our working lives. To accommodate this, we have implemented a hybrid working policy and introduced more flexibility around taking unpaid leave.
20. Corporate Responsibility Days: Our world is important to us, so all our employees get 3 every year to help social and environmental causes and increase our impact on the communities that mean the most to us.
21. Wellbeing Fund: We want to encourage all employees to take charge and prioritise their own wellbeing. We’ve introduced our annual People Fund to support this by offering every individual a fund to support and manage their wellbeing through an activity of their choice.
22. Career Progression: No one develops at the same pace. That’s why we have quarterly rather than annual promotion reviews. We don’t have any quotas: if you’re ready and delivering at the right level, you’ll get that promotion.
23. Profit Share Scheme: All employees participate in the Baringa Group Profit Share Scheme so everyone has a stake in the company’s success.
