The EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant will support young children with additional needs in an early years setting, helping them feel secure, engaged, and ready to learn. This role is ideal for a caring and patient EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant who enjoys working closely with pupils to support communication, regulation, and early development within a calm and supportive environment. Duties as EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant: Support children with SEND within an EYFS setting on a one-to-one or small group basis Assist pupils to access learning through play-based and structured activities Support children’s communication, social, and emotional development Promote positive routines, emotional regulation, and independence Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs Provide reassurance and support during transitions and challenging moments Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment Observe and share information about pupil progress and well-being Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times Ideal EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant: Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within EYFS Understanding of early child development and inclusive practice Calm, patient, and nurturing approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young children Flexible and responsive to individual needs Reliable and committed to a long-term role Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries Why Step Teachers?
