As a Specialist Resource Teacher, you will support a high-quality, inclusive educational experience for Autistic children and young people. Your responsibilities include:
* Managing a high school Autism resource base at The Orme Academy, supporting six Autistic pupils aged 11-16, and coordinating a team of communication support workers.
* Providing direct teaching within the resource base, including delivering coursework and mentoring pupils individually.
* Identifying pupils needing alternative curriculum access, organising suitable adapted materials, and supporting pupils within mainstream lessons.
* Enhancing teaching practices through advice, support, and training to ensure full inclusion of Autistic pupils in the curriculum and school life.
* Completing statutory paperwork related to EHCPs.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience working with Autistic children and a passion for inclusion.
* Experience with pupils with Autism in mainstream settings and knowledge of Key Stage 3 and 4 curricula.
* Staff management experience.
* Postgraduate qualification in Autism and/or SEND is desirable but not essential.
* Must have a valid driving licence, business insurance, and daily access to a car; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants.
