The School of Foundation, Intermediate Learning and Employability at Kingston College is seeking a Section Head responsible for staff and curriculum standards in the cross-college mandatory maths delivery area. The focus is on ensuring that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress, attain qualifications at high levels, and develop lasting learning and employability skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement the area business and improvement plans.
2. Contribute to the College’s objectives and improvement initiatives.
3. Ensure compliance with funding conditions for maths skills development.
4. Maintain high-quality teaching standards.
5. Improve success rates and gather excellent student feedback.
6. Teach GCSE or A level Maths, with oversight of functional skills maths, GCSE maths, and A level Maths.
7. Provide a transparent, responsive, and high-quality service to the College.
Candidate Requirements
1. Degree or relevant professional qualifications in an appropriate subject.
2. Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
3. Participation in recent and relevant continuous professional development.
4. Excellent teaching skills in GCSE or A level Maths, recognized as a good or better teacher.
5. Knowledge of curriculum changes and teaching strategies.
6. Experience in leading/managing maths with a track record of sustained improvements.
7. Strong vision for curriculum development and understanding of quality assurance processes.
8. Experience supporting ‘at-risk’ learners and staff development.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will be eligible for salary increases based on annual cost of living reviews. The closing date for applications is 12th June 2025.
