The post holder will lead operations delivery teams of 250-300 staff through supporting managers. They will ensure high-quality, efficient service delivery, effective planning, and compliance with technical and quality standards. The role has a direct impact on road safety outcomes and involves developing operational processes, managing performance, and fostering talent development. The Operations Manager will also liaise with policy colleagues to support business improvements and ensure standards are maintained.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing leadership, influence, and guidance to staff to support objectives, establishing a clear future vision, and upholding the reputation of the Agency and Civil Service.
2. Leading vehicle testing operations across regional teams to ensure consistent, high-quality services.
3. Ensuring operational standards, quality expectations, service levels, and business targets are met.
4. Maintaining effective communication with staff and management teams.
5. Developing operational plans to deliver value-for-money services.
6. Driving improvements based on QA and audit outcomes, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
7. Collaborating with strategic partners to develop business plans in response to changing priorities.
8. Acting as a liaison for specific services, providing operational expertise, and supporting legislative and procedural improvements.
9. Engaging with internal departments to meet customer needs and ensure effective communication.
