About the Role
NB This is a fixed term contract for a minimum period of 6 months.
As a commissioning editor in the International Secondary Team, you will devise and manage a variety of teaching and learning resources, including educational coursebooks, supplementary resources and digital services to fit identified market needs. Working across a variety of lists (IB, OxfordAQA, Cambridge, Caribbean), you will oversee the smooth development of new print and digital resources.
In addition, you will:
1. Build compelling proposals for new products
2. Develop product concepts through market research
3. Identify and nurture new author talent
4. Guide authors on delivery and work with partners and advisers to ensure that content is appropriate, accurate and accessible for the target markets
5. Create and oversee project schedules and manage projects through to delivery, efficiently and on time
6. Lead on project costings, outlining business models and maximising financial viability
7. Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure a shared understanding of the drivers of success for all projects
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
This exciting position will give you the opportunity to develop and deepen your commissioning experience. Passionate about education, you must demonstrate an understanding of the international education publishing market. You will have:
8. Editorial or educational publishing experience, ideally in a similar field
9. Awareness of international schools’ market needs
10. Familiarity with writing project briefs and quality checking author submissions
11. Financial literacy and confidence setting and managing budgets
12. Project management experience
13. Experience and enthusiasm for developing digital content, in line with user needs
14. Ability to analyse data to make decisions
