Bournemouth University is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Adviser for 18.5 hours a week on a fixed term basis until October 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to students' lives by supporting their mental health, wellbeing, and academic success.


You will work directly with students experiencing a range of mental health conditions, providing expert advice, guidance, and strengths-based support to help them develop strategies for self-management and independent learning throughout their university journey.

You will be a qualified mental health professional with experience supporting individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, including crisis situations. You will bring excellent communication skills, sound professional judgement, and a calm, empathetic approach to working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Relevant professional qualification relating to mental health and current membership of a DSA-QAG recognised professional body are requirements of this role.

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service'sPoints Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position. For more information, please visit
