As the
Deputy Director for Engineering and Standards
, you will play a pivotal role in our organization. This position is not just about managing engineering and asset management data; it’s about leading initiatives that have a significant impact on England’s flood and coastal risk management, navigation, and water infrastructure. In this exciting and varied role, you will: Lead external relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Enhance the country's resilience through effective asset management. Serve as the Agency’s Asset Management Technical Authority. What We’re Looking For
We seek an
innovative and technical leader
with a passion for engineering. To thrive in this role, you should meet the following essential criteria: Experience in a senior accountable engineering role within a major complex infrastructure or safety-critical program. Strong technical background in assuring large-scale engineering construction, maintenance, operation, or decommissioning. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a knack for customer relations and persuasion. Deep understanding of the UK legislative and policy landscape regarding asset management. Proven experience in governance management and strategic oversight. Ability to communicate technical ideas confidently to diverse audiences. Recognition as a role model in leading multi-disciplinary standards, safety, and environmental initiatives. Educational and Professional Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should possess: A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (e.g., civil, infrastructure, mechanical, or electrical engineering) with further learning to Master’s level as required for Chartered Engineer registration under UK-SPEC. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional registration from a recognized engineering body. Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous: Institute of Asset Management Diploma or equivalent. Status of a Fellow of an Engineering Institution. Understanding of reservoirs, bridges, and land drainage law. Working Conditions
This position is based nationally, with the flexibility to work from any EA office. Compensation
The grade rate for this role is
£81,000
