As a Global Lab and System Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of product specialists working across the Engineering Delivery function, NPI and Product Care function reporting directly to the Head of Control and Protection Verification & Validation Engineering Leader.
This role includes developing department talent, engineering process management, providing technical guidance, mentoring, driving consistent design practices and providing technical solutions that meet the needs of NPI, Product Care and Project Delivery in the domain of lab commissioning and system commissioning on customer site.
Additionally, you will be responsible for harmonization of process, lessons learned, design guides, tools and good practices globally.
Essential Responsibilities
* Accountable for the application of departmental standard installation/testing, quality & HSE practices and guidelines globally.
* Be involved from the requirements phase, ensuring requirements are SMART and testable.
* Manage the testing for the full hardware and software development lifecycle test management.
* Establish a standard process to assess, review and record the testing needs and boundaries of each project to ensure the control system is verified to the maximum extent before leaving the factory.
* Be familiar with regulatory requirements specific to the lab and ensure all users are compliant with those standards.
* Oversee laboratory safety and ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations; document non‑compliance instances and abatement actions.
* Generate standard plans, procedures and specifications for the development of integration system tests, full system tests, and factory acceptance tests and commissioning tests at site.
* Provide immediate feedback and correct team behaviors that do not foster a good culture or contribute towards unsafe practices.
* Ensure that standard processes, policies and procedures are defined and adhered to in all geographical locations of the verification and validation department.
* Provide leadership and technical direction to meet project and departmental specific objectives.
* Prepare or contribute to the generation of standard commissioning test procedures in coordination with System Engineering / Project Validation & Verification Lead, aligned with contractual requirements and international standards.
* Gather and report lessons learned from each project’s testing, delivering a conclusive report at project completion.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Degree in Electronics / Electrical engineering or related field.
* Significant experience in power generation, systems design, development and operation of control systems.
* Demonstrable technical leadership experience.
* Previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer in the high voltage field.
* Good knowledge of 400kV substations and HVDC systems (LCC/VSC/SVC) including control and protection systems.
* Understanding of HVDC system operational behavior and its impact on equipment, enabling decisions when leading system testing at site.
* Experience in a complex systems engineering development environment.
* Knowledge of control and protection cubicle circuit diagrams, field cabling, protection relays, HV/MV/LV switchgear, IEDs and distributed control systems.
* Knowledge of requirements management.
* Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
* Willingness and ability to work in both office and on sites worldwide for extended periods.
